Telus pledging $25 to local youth-in-need program for every new Optik TV customer

WHISTLER, BC – Telus is contributing $25 on behalf of every new Optik TV customer in Whistler to support Zero Ceiling over the next six months. The local adventure-based program empowers at-risk youth and young adults to develop life skills and achieve personal growth.

“Working with our local youth every day, I see first-hand the very real, positive impact our organization has on youth-in-need,” said Kasi Lubin, Executive Director, Zero Ceiling Society of Canada. “Without funding from companies like Telus, the future of our youth may look very different. We could not be more grateful to Telus for their continued support of Zero Ceiling as they are truly helping us change lives.”

Zero Ceiling brings together hundreds of at-risk and homeless youth from Vancouver and the Sea-to-Sky Corridor to Whistler each year to participate in outdoor adventures such as skiing, snowboarding, hiking and white water rafting. In addition to the opportunity for youth to participate in leadership-building activities, Zero Ceiling operates the Work 2 Live program, which gives at-risk and homeless youth the opportunity to positively transform their lives. Participants are given employment, housing and on-going support in Whistler, encouraging them to build the foundation to live successful, independent lives. Zero Ceiling has positively impacted the lives of more than 4,000 youth in the past 15 years.

“On behalf of Telus, we’re very proud to again be supporting Zero Ceiling and, in turn, empowering our local youth to reach their full potential,” said Lisa LaMothe, Telus General Manager Sea-to-Sky Corridor. “At Telus, we feel there is no better way to demonstrate our commitment to the community than to invest in our local youth and encourage positive change in their lives. Zero Ceiling provides inspirational opportunities and experiences for our local youth-in-need, and we are grateful to all of our new Optik TV customers for helping to make this gift possible.”

Since 2011, Telus has donated $15,000 to Zero Ceiling in support of their initiative to positively change the lives of youth-in-need. Telus will contribute a maximum of $20,000 to the campaign on behalf of all customers who sign up for Optik TV in Whistler between February 7, 2013 and August 7, 2013.
