Vancouver, B.C. – Taking aim at standard TV remotes, Telus says its Optik Smart Remote app turns users of Android or Apple devices into power surfers by enabling them to swipe when browsing the guide and tap to change the channel once they link their mobile device with their digital box.
Telus claims you can also spend less time channel surfing by using guide filters to show only what you’re looking for including your favourite shows or what is most popular. You can also navigate the interactive program guide without interrupting the show you are viewing and access more program-related information from sources like IMDB, Wikipedia and YouTube.
“Plus you can easily set and manage your recordings at home or on the go, meaning you won’t miss out on any of your favourite shows even if you’re away from home,” said David Fuller, Telus chief marketing officer, in a release.
The Optik Smart Remote app also contains new enhancements including a new channel scroll bar which lets you jump to different sections of the guide, recording enhancements to sort shows by date, series or title; view recorded and scheduled shows on a PVR; and filter selections by category.
Optik Smart Remote is free to download; customers must subscribe to Telus Optik TV and Internet and have an Optik TV account.
