TORONTO – The pint-sized saw whet owl will be the next animal star featured in Telus’ upcoming marketing campaign.
The critter received more than 25% of the 460,000 votes submitted through a Facebook campaign launched last month, beating out category finalists the otter and the pot-bellied pig. As part of the campaign, Telus pledged to give $1 to the Nature Conservancy of Canada for each vote submitted, up to $100,000, a goal met within days of the campaign kick-off.

In other news, ever wonder what inspires the choice of music in commercials? Telus is currently featuring the music of Jessica Allossery, a 21-year old self-taught singer songwriter from Chatham-Kent, Ontario, after discovering her song ‘Change the World’, during a company presentation.
“Everyone in the room that day was struck by the emotional honesty and power of her message, which perfectly echoes Telus’ commitment to give where we live”, reads a post on the company’s blog. “For us, Jessica was the perfect fit for our inspiring new campaign, which shares Telus’ commitment to our communities and the people within them”.
