TORONTO – Telus customers travelling south of the border this summer now have a new way to stay connected.
US Easy Roam, unveiled Thursday, allows customers on a Telus consumer monthly wireless postpaid rate plans to use their rate plan while in the US for $7 a day. Once the optional service is added to their device, US Easy Roam will grant access to voice minutes, text messages and data allotment included as part of the customer's existing rate plan.
Ideal for short to medium-length trips, customer exceeding their rate plan's minute, text and data limits while in the US will be charged Canadian rate plan's pay-per-use rates instead of US pay-per-use rates.
"Customers have told us that roaming is where they want us to provide more value and convenience, and we have responded," said Kevin Banderk, Telus’ VP mobility marketing, in the news release. "We know our customers expect more and with US Easy Roam, customers on most monthly rate plans can easily and freely use their mobile devices just like they do at home without the need to add travel passes prior to each trip and removes the fear of unexpected roaming charges."
Customers may add US Easy Roam to their device by texting “travel” to 7626 or by logging onto their Telus Account and viewing roaming options. Once enrolled, the service will automatically work every time a customer travels in the US.
