MAPLE RIDGE, B.C. – Telus announced yesterday it is investing $60 million to connect homes and businesses in Maple Ridge to its fibre optic network.
Work on the network has already begun, and Telus expects most homes and businesses in Maple Ridge to be connected by the end of 2023, according to a press release.
The investment is part of the company’s “commitment to invest $13 billion in infrastructure and operations across British Columbia through 2024.” A direct connection to the “PureFibre network comes at no cost to taxpayers or residents,” the press release says.
“Once homes are connected, residents can immediately begin taking advantage of dramatically faster and symmetrical Internet speeds.”
Telus has invested over $5 billion since 2013 to connect 137 communities and 62 First Nations in B.C., Alberta and Quebec to the company’s PureFibre network, according to the press release.
