Telus investing $3M in Fort McMurray, $10M in St. Albert


FORT MCMURRAY and ST. ALBERT, Alta. — Telus announced today it is investing $3 million in Fort McMurray and $10 million in St. Albert this year as part of its $17-billion investment in operations, network infrastructure and spectrum across Alberta from now through 2026.

In Fort McMurray, Telus’ investment is being used to continue to bring the company’s “blistering-fast 5G network speeds to the city,” according to a press release.

In a separate release regarding Telus’ investment in St. Albert, the city’s mayor, Cathy Heron, said access to online resources at home, work or on the go “is becoming increasingly important for our residents and businesses in order for them to continue to thrive in all aspects of their lives.

“The City of St. Albert appreciates the significant investment Telus is making in St. Albert to support a high degree of connectivity for our community,” Heron said.

Speaking about Telus’ overall investment in Alberta, Telus president and CEO Darren Entwistle is quoted as saying: “This generational $17 billion investment in Alberta is a true demonstration of Telus’ long-standing commitment to improving the lives of Canadians by connecting communities from coast-to-coast with our world-leading wireless 5G and PureFibre networks.”
