QUEBEC CITY — Today, Telus announced it is investing $38 million this year to deploy its PureFibre and 5G networks in Quebec’s Capitale-Nationale region.
Combined with an additional contribution of more than $1 million from the governments of Quebec and Canada, Telus’s investment will provide direct access to its PureFibre network for more than 2,000 households and businesses in the Portneuf regional county municipality (RCM) and Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures by September 2022, says Telus’s press release.
According to a press release issued today by ISED Canada, the governments’ combined contribution of $1.09 million, provided through the Canada-Quebec Operation High Speed program, will support the deployment of high-speed Internet service to 140 homes in the Portneuf RCM.
In addition, with its own private investments, Telus will expand its 5G network to 20 additional communities in the Capitale-Nationale region in 2021, including the Portneuf, Côte-de-Beaupré and Charlevoix RCMs, the company says.
