TORONTO/MONTREAL – Telus says it has added 900 new team members in Ontario and Quebec in 2011 to help meet the growing demand for its wireless services.
By the end of this year, the new 250 Ontario recruits will join the 7,800 Telus team members who already call Toronto and the GTA home. Since January Telus has also hired nearly 650 new employees in the province of Quebec, with more than half meeting the company’s growing needs in the Greater Montréal Area.
Telus plans to hire even more new team members this year to meet growing customer demand for business and wireless services in Quebec. About half of the new team members are filling new customer service roles, the others a wide variety of technical and professional roles.
"The wireless industry is changing. Devices are a lot more powerful and can do so much more than 10 years ago. Our customers today are looking for us to offer them an enhanced experience in exchange for the investment they are making with us when choosing Telus as their wireless service provider," said David Fuller, Telus Chief Marketing Officer. "These new team members will help support our focus on providing the best customer experience in the industry."
Telus has invested $20 billion in technology and operations in Ontario since 2000. During that time, Telus and its employees have contributed $33 million and volunteered 194,000 hours of service to a variety of charities, organizations and local partnerships in the province.
The expansion of the Telus team in Quebec complements investments totaling nearly $8.5 billion in the Quebec economy since 2000. This year alone, Telus is investing $230 million in wireline and wireless infrastructure in Quebec.
