TORONTO – Telus employees across Canada are helping the company to trial a new initiative that aims to help Canadians manage their personal healthcare records electronically.
Powered by Microsoft HealthVault, Telus health space is a high-security data storage and sharing service where individual Canadians will be able to keep all their personal healthcare information – such as lab results and prescription information – in an on-line database for access over any Internet connection.
"Telus has invested more than $800 million dollars the last three years in healthcare technology and our team members are working tirelessly to drive healthcare transformation," said president and CEO, Darren Entwistle, in a statement. "Through Telus health space, we are empowering Canadians with an electronic health platform that will improve health outcomes for themselves and their families. The Telus team is resolute in our goals to put the patient first, improve the flow of information across the continuum of care and shift the focus from the remediation to the prevention of disease."
The Telus health space project is an ongoing, multi-phased initiative, targeting different health issues and e-health technologies including innovative new mobile applications. The first phase of this nationwide project with Telus employees focuses on cardiovascular health and will be run in partnership with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and Shepell.fgi, Telus’ employee and family assistance program provider.
Telus said that the employee trial will pave the way for a national roll-out of the program.
