BRANTFORD, ON – Telus’ customers in Brantford now have access to 4G speeds with additional communities to be upgraded to Long Term Evolution (LTE) in the coming months. Today's announcement is part of the company's $650 million investment in Ontario over the next three years to further expand and enhance its wireless networks.
"With a 4G LTE device like Samsung Galaxy S III or Note II, our customers will have the fastest wireless Internet at their fingertips, as fast as your home Internet connection but on your smartphone, tablet or Internet key. We are continuing to expand this new technology, community by community, so that by the end of the year many more Ontario residents are expected to have access. It's an ambitious undertaking," said Darryl Hutton, director of sales, Telus.
Telus says its customers can already experience the full capabilities of its 4G network with devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy Note II, Samsung Rugby LTE, LG Optimus G, HTC One X+, Huawei E397 4G LTE Mobile Internet Key and Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE. The Samsung ATIV S will also be joining its device lineup this winter.
The carrier’s 4G LTE service now covers more than 65 % of the Canadian population. By the end of 2012, Telus' 4G is expected to launch in Ontario regions including Sudbury, St. Catharines and Collingwood with more to come. Recently TELUS launched its 4G LTE network in Leamington, Oshawa Whitby and the Niagara region.
