Telus commits $7M to Manitoba wireless network

WINNIPEG – Telus said Thursday that it will invest more than $7 million in its 4G wireless network in Manitoba.

In addition, the telco has pledged to contribute $25 on behalf of every new smart phone customer in Winnipeg, up to $160,000, to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation through the ‘Phones for Good’ campaign. The campaign will run until December 5 and will help fund paediatric oncology clinical trials to help children with cancer receive safe treatments.

"Telus' $7 million investment will enhance our world-class wireless network for Manitobans living and working in the province," said VP Michael Sangster, in the release.  "Telus is committed to making investments in infrastructure and technology to better serve our customers and communities.”

The capital investment is consistent with Telus' overall capital expenditure guidance for 2012.
