VANCOUVER – Telus announced today it has completed the previously announced $700 million acquisition of ADT Security Services Canada.
The company is one of Canada’s leading providers of security and automation solutions with more than 500,000 customers and over 1,000 employees in the country, all of whom Telus is bringing on board.
While the acquisition instantly makes Telus’ in home and business suite of security and automation products and services much more robust, “perhaps most critically, this acquisition supports the continued advancement of our consumer health strategy which includes helping Canadians, notably elderly citizens, enjoy their independence for longer,” said Telus CEO Darren Entwistle in the press release. The company has a number of home health monitoring products already in the marketplace.
“The automated home and business is the future,” said Jason Macdonnell, president of Telus Security and Automation, in the release. “For our residential customers, this acquisition enhances the holistic suite of services we offer to meet our customers end-to-end connectivity needs.”
While Telus works to integrate ADT Canada, its customers will continue to receive and access services from ADT Canada as they always have. In the near future, however, ADT Canada customers will receive information from Telus about new opportunities to save on their security services, including bundling offers
While Telus customers in B.C. and Alberta have been able to bundle home internet and TV with the company’s SmartHome security suite, customers outside that footprint, such as Telus wireless customers across Canada, will soon be able to take advantage of deals on home and business security, a company spokesperson told Cartt.ca.
“For residential consumers, this acquisition enables us to double-down on our commitment to improve the lives of Canadians with technology, offering integrated connected home solutions including health, automation, safety and security, and allowing customers to generate meaningful savings on both insurance premiums and energy costs, all while being more environmentally friendly,” said the spokesperson.
