MONTREAL – Telus said Wednesday that it has acquired a 20% stake in Alithya, a Quebec-based information technology and consulting service provider with offices in Canada and France.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.  The two companies said that their long-term strategic partnership allows each to offer suites of information and communication technology (ICT) services, with a focus on managed infrastructure solutions, to their business customers.

As a result of this partnership, 94 employees from Telus' professional services team will join Alithya in the coming weeks to create a single, consolidated team of nearly 600 consultants.  Telus said it will retain those professional services team members specializing in application and managed infrastructure solutions, specifically managed cloud computing, hosting, and portal solutions.

"This partnership will address the business community's growing demand for managed infrastructure solutions centred on intelligent data centres and cloud-based technologies”, said Benoit Simard, Telus’ VP business markets, in the news release.  “This investment is part of a series of partnerships Telus developed over the past three years to enhance our information technology offer and better support our customers in achieving their technology transformation objectives.”

"We are proud to partner with a Canadian leader of Telus' calibre, with the resulting enhancement of our service offer to our business customers," added Alithya president and CEO Paul Raymond.  "This agreement represents the next logical step in the close business relationship we have enjoyed with Telus for many years, and we are proud to put our joint expertise to work for the benefit of our customers."
