NEW YORK and VANCOUVER – NBCUniversal is expanding its distribution deal with Telus to add Golf Channel, CNBC and MSNBC to Telus’ digital application Optik on the go App, the companies said Thursday.

With Telus’ Optik on the go, Optik TV customers in B.C. and Alberta will enjoy live, in home streaming of more than 1900 hours of live golf programming across the PGA Tour, Champions Tour, Web.com Tour, LPGA, European Tour and others.  On the news front, CNBC provides business news and real-time financial market coverage and business information, while MSNBC offers in-depth analysis, insightful political commentary and informed perspectives for the progressive community.  This partnership adds to Telus’ multi-screen offering that already features Universal Pictures film content on demand.

“We are pleased to offer an expanded product to our Optik TV subscribers who are passionate about their sports and news coverage by giving them the flexibility of watching programming on the devices of their choice,” said Blair Miller, vice-president Content at Telus, in the news release.

“This innovative offering will continue to grow the already strong digital relationship between Telus and NBCUniversal, and is a natural extension of our expertise in content and technology,” added Drake Harris, senior director, TV networks distribution at NBCUniversal. “By using the latest technologies and keeping with the rapid pace of innovation, NBCUniversal is committed to delivering the best content to Telus customers wherever and whenever they want to watch it.”
