VANCOUVER – Telus’ 4G LTE network is now live in Armstrong, B.C., Fort McMurray, Alberta and Oshawa/ Whitby, Ontario. Its 4G LTE network now reaches more than 65% of the Canadian population. Telus invested $80,000 to bring 4G to Armstrong and the network in Fort McMurray is part of its $18 million investment in the region, while the Oshawa and Whitby expansion is part of its $280 million investment in the GTA over the next three years.
Upcoming Telus 4G sites launching across Ontario are in Sudbury, Brantford, Collingwood and St. Catharines; in Alberta at Fort McKay and Lloydminister and in B.C. at Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Tumbler Ridge and Salmon Arm. By the end of 2012 Telus’ 4G LTE network will reach more than 80% of the populations in Alberta and B.C.
4G LTE is the latest evolution in Telus’ wireless network technology plan made possible by the 2009 launch of its coast-to-coast 4G HSPA wireless network service. Today its network reaches more than 97% of Canadians. Since 2000, Telus has invested more than $30 billion in its advanced wireless networks in Canada.
