Teletoon promotes Ward, Cunnigham

TORONTO – Teletoon announced this morning that Russell Ward has been moved up to vice-president, marketing and Natalie Cunningham to director of marketing.

Both changes at the Astral/Corus co-owned animation broadcaster are effective today.

Ward will serve as a key member of the executive and management teams while overseeing the marketing, sales promotions and Teletoon Studios departments. He will direct all consumer and trade marketing efforts and supervise the continued brand development of Teletoon, Teletoon Detour and Teletoon Retro, reads the press release.

“He will also identify new opportunities for Teletoon Canada and lead the development of key research to track and build the market performance of the networks,” it reads.

Ward has been with Astral Media for seven years, serving most recently as director, consumer marketing, Astral Television Networks. He “has proven his expertise in strategic planning and brand building, playing an integral role in the recent launch of Playhouse Disney and the ‘Always Riveting’ positioning for The Movie Network. Responsible for numerous award-winning campaigns and initiatives, Ward oversaw all program launches and promotions for the networks including the recent record-breaking broadcasts of Disney’s High School Musical 2 and Camp Rock,” reads the release.

A member of the Teletoon team for the past five years Cunningham was moved up from brand manager. As director, Cunningham will continue to supervise the management of Teletoon brands and take-on additional responsibilities including acting as the key research liaison for all Teletoon departments. She will also oversee the Teletoon Online Advisory Panel, a research panel of over 1000 Teletoon viewers from across Canada aged between nine and 24, says the company’s release.
