Telesat selects QEST to develop Lightspeed flat panel antenna for aviation market

Satellite operator Telesat announced Monday it has awarded a development contract to German broadband antenna maker QEST Quantenelektronische Systeme GmbH for a Telesat Lightspeed Aero Flat Panel Antenna (FPA) for the commercial aviation industry. Under the agreement, QEST will extend its patented FPA technology for Telesat Lightspeed, including the development of the transmit and receive antenna apertures, RF components and the antenna control unit, according to a Telesat press release.
