OTTAWA – Telesat is working with the World Broadcasting Union to test advancements in high-definition television towards the goal of global interoperability of MPEG-4 hardware standards. The satellite services operator recently hosted 12 video codec manufacturers from around the world at its research and development lab in Ottawa, where the participants conducted real-time testing involving high def MPEG-4 formats at bit rates between 38 and 10.3 megabits per second.
