Telesat hosts HDTV tests

OTTAWA – Telesat is working with the World Broadcasting Union to test advancements in high-definition television towards the goal of global interoperability of MPEG-4 hardware standards. The satellite services operator recently hosted 12 video codec manufacturers from around the world at its research and development lab in Ottawa, where the participants conducted real-time testing involving high def MPEG-4 formats at bit rates between 38 and 10.3 megabits per second. Test results will be published on the World Broadcasting Union's international satellite operations group website after review by the participating broadcasters and manufacturers involved in the tests. www.telesat.com www.worldbroadcastingunions.org
