OTTAWA – Almost 164,000 new phone or fax numbers were registered with the country’s national do not call list (DNCL) during May and June – almost double the number reported in the CRTC’s previous status report.
According to the Commission’s most recent status report as of June 30, the national DNCL now contains 11,821,176 registered phone or fax numbers. There were 11,657,261 new numbers registered as of April 30.
The total of telemarketing complaints filed in May and June was at 27,418 , compared to approximately 16,000 in April. Since the DNCL’s launch in 2008, 723,110 complaints have been logged.
Fifteen new investigations were opened in June, bringing the number of active investigations to 142. During this period, the CRTC issued one notice of violation, bring the total issued to date to 78.
In addition, no administrative monetary penalties (AMPs) were imposed during this period; to date, the CRTC has imposed 54 AMPs.
