TORONTO – Telelatino is about to launch of tlñ, a Canadian-made 100% Hispanic oriented general interest channel, the company announced today.
It will serve "the fast-growing population of Hispanic /Spanish speaking Canadians," says the company.
"As Canada’s first and only 100% Spanish language specialty channel, tlñ will showcase the best Hispanic programming including internationally acclaimed telenovellas, top-rated talk shows and variety and music specials, news and children’s programming. Viewers of tlñ will also enjoy the most extensive international tournament soccer coverage in North America with thousands of hours of exclusive games from the next 32 FIFA tournaments between 2007 and 2014, starting with the FIFA Men’s Under 20 World Cup taking place in Canada starting June 30, 2007, as well as Latin America’s top nations tournament, Copa America in July 2007," says the press release.
“Tlñ is a channel entirely devoted to Hispanic Canadians,” said Aldo Di Felice, TLN president. “This allows Telelatino to supplement our partially Hispanic main service, TLN, with a pure 24 hour Hispanic programming service. The Hispanic Canadian community has repeatedly expressed an interest in having a channel of their own with a combination of local and international content. Now, together with our distribution partners, we are able to meet that demand.”
The brand new tlñ is set to launch next month, in time for the holiday season. Additional carriage announcements and programming schedules will be made available soon.
