CHARLOTTETOWN — GetOn Health, a PEI-based telehealth platform from GeneratorWorks of Akron, Ohio, has added Covid-19 screening capabilities through a partnership with clinical algorithm platform SmartDocMD, the companies announced this week.
Together, the companies have released SecurePass, a digital Covid-19 risk stratification and screening survey, which uses SmartDocMD’s clinical algorithms that combine CDC and Health Canada guidelines for risk assessment, patient symptoms and medical comorbidities to identify and help segregate higher-risk patients, explains the news release.
The product identifies patient demographics, geolocation, risk factors, illness symptoms, severity and comorbid conditions that can be viewed in real-time. With the information provided via SecurePass and shared on the GetOn Health platform, physicians, healthcare facilities and public health officers can better inform and remotely support those showing possible high-risk indicators, says the release.
For both doctors and administrators, GetOn Health offers easy and efficient virtual clinic operations that are cloud-based, simple to log-in and all data is securely stored in Canada. It includes prompted patient encounters, session tracking, simple video interaction, notes, interaction with administration, group functions and overall guidance for reimbursable codes (including the new telehealth codes for Covid-19). The system will also complete reports for exporting billing of services related to codes and summarize performance.
GetOn Health’s founding partner, Dr. Michael Mayne, is the former deputy minister of health on Prince Edward Island and CEO of the local health authority.
“I wanted to build this tool to give doctors more control over their time and enable better connectivity between them and their patients. Our world has changed with the current Covid-19 pandemic, and health systems are becoming overwhelmed. Understanding community health and physician needs are critical to ensuring the safety and ongoing operations of healthcare facilities and workers. And with our collaboration to create SecurePass, we can do just that, while keeping patients informed, connected to their doctors and feeling safe,” Dr. Mayne said in the news release.
