TORONTO – Federal Industry Minister Maxime Bernier, who will be received like a conquering hero we bet, will deliver the closing address at the 2007 Canadian Telecom Summit in June in Toronto.
At last year’s event, Bernier outlined his vision for the telecommunications industry and first hit the gas on the dramatically accelerated process towards telecom deregulation he drove throughout the past 10 months (search Cartt.ca for “Bernier” to see the background). This year, he’s expected to lay out his views on how his policy directives have affected the industry and what he believes will be required to move forward. He will deliver the closing remarks on Wednesday June 13th.
The Summit will also feature presentations by 20 industry leaders, offering insights into the future of Canadian telecom, examining technology, services, consumer and business trends and policy. More than 50 experts will participate in panel discussions to explore areas of interest to all stakeholders in the Canadian information and communications industries.
Now in its sixth year, the Summit will take place on June 11-13 and will attract more than 550 people from around the world. This year’s keynote speakers will include the senior leadership of Canada’s major telephone companies and international service providers and suppliers.
The Summit is also an occasion to meet with services and equipment leaders, applications developers and policy makers, regulators and major customers.
