TekSavvy launches FTTH service in Dover Centre

CHATHAM, Ont. — Independent ISP TekSavvy Solutions announced today it has launched fibre-to-the-home service in Dover Centre, making high-speed Internet access available to 55 homes and businesses in the community located in the municipality of Chatham-Kent, Ont.

This is the fourth community to be connected as part of a larger broadband project partially funded by the Southwestern Integrated Fibre Technology (SWIFT) regional broadband program. TekSavvy was awarded the contract for the project and $848,763 in funding in February 2021.

TekSavvy announced in January it had launched FTTH service in the other three communities covered by the project — Mitchell’s Bay, Grande Pointe and Pain Court.

“TekSavvy is pleased to deliver high-speed unlimited fibre internet service to Dover Centre,” said Charlie Burns, chief technology officer at TekSavvy, in a press release. “Residents can now access the latest fibre-based technology and at a fair price.”

“We’re proud to partner with TekSavvy and the Municipality of Chatham-Kent to further expand broadband service throughout the region and are pleased to see that as a result of the expansion project that many more homes, farms and businesses within the community of Dover Centre now have access to fast, reliable internet service,” said Barry Field, executive director of SWIFT.
