TORONTO – Ron Suter has been named executive vice-president/general manager, Canada, NBC Universal Television Distribution and executive vice-president, Universal Studios Canada, the company announced today.
Suter, who is based in Toronto, will continue to oversee all Canadian television operations for NBC Universal Television Distribution and represent Universal Studios as a national leader for both the studio and parent company General Electric. He is responsible for licensing all of NBC Universal’s theatrical and television programming in all media for English and French Canada.

Suter previously served as senior vice-president and general sales manager, Canada, for NBC Universal Television Distribution, as well as senior vice-president, Universal Studios Canada.
Suter has been with NBC Universal since 1981, when he started out in the records division of MCA in Toronto. After working in several areas of the music business, he moved to the television division as a syndication sales executive in 1986. He was appointed sales manager in 1991 and in 1993; he assumed a senior role in Universal’s Canadian television division, becoming vice-president, general manager, Universal Television Canada.
Suter also currently manages the NBC Universal Heritage Fund and serves as director for the National Screen Institute (NSI), as well as Canada’s Walk of Fame.
The NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution division is responsible for the distribution of NBC Universal product to all forms of television throughout the United States and Canada. This includes distribution of current and library film and television product, including formats and non-scripted programming, in the pay, free, and basic markets, as well as the domestic syndication of first-run syndicated TV programs and theatrical and TV movie packages.
Current first-run strip syndicated programming at NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution includes Access Hollywood, Deal or No Deal, The Jerry Springer Show, The Martha Stewart Show, Maury and The Steve Wilkos Show. Current first-run weekly syndicated programming includes The Chris Matthews Show, Lyons & Bailes Reel Talk, The Wall Street Journal Report with Maria Bartiromo and the off-network distribution of Heroes, House, The Office, Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and many more series.
