Supreme Court decides not to hear two site-blocking cases

By Denis Carmel OTTAWA – In two decisions issued today, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled not to hear two site-blocking cases, one of the Federal Court of Appeal (FCA) and the other from Québec’s Court of Appeal. In a May 2021 decision, the FCA ruled the Federal Court has the authority to order ISPs to block sites that are infringing on the rights of content creators by disseminating their content online without permission.
