TORONTO — Corus Entertainment’s pay-TV channel ABC Spark will premiere a new supernatural drama series, Motherland: Fort Salem, in a two-hour special on Wednesday, March 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
Created by Eliot Laurence (Claws) and executive produced by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Kevin Messick, Motherland: Fort Salem is set in an alternate, present-day America where witches ended their persecution 300 years ago by cutting a deal with the U.S. government to fight for their country. The series follows three young women from basic training in combat magic into terrifying and thrilling early deployment, reads the news release.
Canadian actress Taylor Hickson (Deadly Class) portrays Raelle, a reluctant recruit whose mother recently died in the line of duty. Jessica Sutton (The Kissing Booth) is Tally, a strong-willed and curious witch who enlisted despite her mother’s passionate disapproval. Amalia Holm (Playground) plays Scylla, a playful yet dark and mischievous recruit who is not what she appears to be. Demetria McKinney (The Saints and Sinners) plays Anacostia, a tough but wryly humourous drill sergeant whose chief concern is keeping the young recruits alive through basic training.
After the two-hour premiere on March 25, new episodes of Motherland: Fort Salem will air Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC Spark. Episodes will also be available for a limited time on ABC Spark On Demand and ABCSpark.ca.
