EDMONTON – Super Channel’s new channel for esports fans will debut Thursday to current Super Channel subscribers as part of their existing package.

GINX Esports TV Canada, billed as the go-to-destination for gaming enthusiasts and players, will launch May 4 at 8:00 PM ET with a slate of live esports events, news and gaming lifestyle programming, Super Channel confirmed Wednesday.

Formerly known as SC4, GINX Esports TV Canada is part of Super Channel’s current multiplex offering, which includes SC1 and SC2, as well as Super Channel Vault, formerly SC3, which launched April 28.  The moves come as the company seeks refinancing, or a buyer, as it remains under court protection from creditors.

“Canada’s passion for esports is undeniable, and we are thrilled to be the first broadcaster to bring the biggest brand in esports coverage to our fast-growing gaming community,” said Super Channel COO Don McDonald, in the news release.  “Starting tomorrow, GINX Esports TV Canada will become the new home for world-class esports coverage bringing a global and, in the near future, a distinctive Canadian perspective on the fast-growing esports market.”
