Vault launching April 28
EDMONTON – Pay TV service Super Channel said today it will launch Super Channel Vault, which will be a collection of “hand-picked, critically acclaimed, award-winning films, designed to give movie-lovers a place to find all their favourites on one channel,” the company says.
The newly branded channel will take the place of multiplexed channel SC3 on Friday, April 28. It will host films from Sony Pictures, Paramount, MGM, Lionsgate and Entertainment One and will also be available on Super Channel On Demand.
"We have hand-picked a collection of film titles for our subscribers that we thought were so good, we had to keep them in the vault", said Don McDonald, COO of Super Channel, in the press release. "Each month we will continue to selectively add new titles that any movie-lover would consider worthy to include in their personal library. With the addition of Super Channel VAULT, and our forthcoming 24 hour eSports channel, we are providing viewers with exceptional value and entertainment."
Titles will include such hits as Men in Black, Ghostbusters, Witness, American Beauty, Rob Roy, Platoon, Monster's Ball, Reservoir Dogs, and Passchendaele.
In keeping with Super Channel's current on-air tag line of "See It Here", the newly rebranded channel will be promoted on-air with a new logo and the tag line "See It Again".
The new brand will kick things off with the following schedule: Friday April 28th – The Da Vinci Code, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Man In the Iron Mask; Saturday April 29th – The Thomas Crown Affair; Spider-Man, The Devil's Own; Sunday April 30th – Superbad, Silence of the Lambs, Stargate.
This is the latest move by the broadcaster to shake up the brand while it seeks refinancing, or a buyer, as it is under court protection from creditors. Besides the esports channel, Super Channel also recently said it would add live sports to its lineup.
