Super Channel greenlights new docuseries offering rare inside look at RCMP investigations

Super Channel and Winnipeg-based production company Farpoint Films announced Tuesday they are joining forces with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) on a new documentary series that goes behind the scenes of real police work as RCMP investigators tackle some of Canada’s most compelling cases.

Comprising 20 one-hour episodes, Season 1 of RCMP Files is currently in production in Winnipeg and is scheduled to premiere on Super Channel and Super Channel+ in 2027.

Each episode of RCMP Files profiles a historical case and features interviews with RCMP officers and specialists directly involved in the investigations. Retired RCMP Commissioner and now Senator Beverley Busson and current Commissioner Mike Duheme are among the series consultants who help to inform the storytelling in the series.

RCMP Files brings together extraordinary access, compelling real-life cases, and thoughtful storytelling,” Kim Ball, executive vice president of content and communications at Super Channel, said in a Tuesday press release. “This collaboration with Farpoint Films and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police allows Super Channel to present a series that is as informative as it is engaging — exactly the kind of premium storytelling we’re proud to champion.”

“Few institutions are as deeply connected to Canada’s history and identity as the Royal Canadian Mounted Police,” Don McDonald, Super Channel president and CEO, said in a statement. “RCMP Files provides a rare window into that legacy, highlighting the service, professionalism, and values that have defined the organization for generations and earned respect worldwide.”

Farpoint Films CEO Kyle Boranis said: “I am very proud that we get to tell these stories and look forward to bringing them to both a Canadian audience as well as an international audience through our company Farpoint Distribution.”
