Super Channel and film fest set air dates

EDMONTON — Super Channel and the Edmonton International Film Festival (EIFF) announced Tuesday the broadcast schedule for the feature films airing on Super Channel Fuse as part of this year’s virtual EIFF event, taking place from October 1 to 10.

The festival’s organizers also announced movie fans in Edmonton will be able to enjoy an in-theatre experience, with 30 feature-length dramas and documentaries and 22 short films scheduled to screen at the city’s Landmark Cinemas at 9 City Centre. In keeping with Covid-19 restrictions, seating capacities in each theatre will be reduced by 75%.

For those who can’t attend in person, Super Channel is screening 15 feature films and 20 short film programs from the full festival lineup.

“To give our at-home audience the feeling that they’re here, with us, in a movie theatre we tried to program every film on Super Channel at the same time that the in-theatre screenings are happening. So, for example, while you are watching our opening night film, Jasmine Road, settled into your villa in New Brunswick, sipping Chardonnay, we are watching, too, in the movie theatre,” said Sydney Moule, festival co-producer, in the press release.

Vincent Brulotte, festival programmer, added: “And, where we have filmmakers attending, once the credits roll, you can join our Q&A in-theatre on Facebook Live. It doesn’t matter where you are across the country.”
