EDMONTON – Super Channel and Halifax based Emotion Pictures have begun production on the original drama series Forgive Me, written and directed by Thom Fitzgerald.
It’s the first original drama series for Super Channel and begins filming December 10 in Halifax. It also marks the series television debut for Fitzgerald (The Hanging Garden, Cloudburst, The Event, 3 Needles), with the 12 episode series is slated to premiere in spring 2013.
Forgive Me is a bold half-hour drama that breaks the seal of the Catholic confessional says Super Channel. A young Priest grappling with his own secrets, strains under the ever growing weight of a small town's whispered sins. As his congregants confess a myriad of struggles ranging from the age old sins of lust and greed to more distinctly contemporary sins like reproductive technology and same-sex marriage, his own past and the stories that are entrusted to him can't remain untangled for long, and more will be asked of him than he ever imagined.
"The series looks at the challenge people face trying to reconcile religious faith with the real problems of today's technological, boundary-free society," Fitzgerald said, "I praise Super Channel for taking a leap of faith on this unique show."
Marguerite Pigott, Head of Creative Development for Super Channel said “"Forgive Me explores a world in which it's almost impossible to know what's right. We are thrilled to be involved with Thom Fitzgerald in bringing this emotionally powerful series to Super Channel's audience."
The show stars Halifax actor Mike McLeod and John Dunsworth (Trailer Park Boys and is produced by Doug Pettigrew and Thom Fitzgerald of Emotion Pictures in association with Super Channel and the participation of the Canadian Media Fund.
