TORONTO — With 10 new broadcasters coming on board to air the event, the all-Canadian special Stronger Together, Tous Ensemble in support of frontline workers battling Covid-19 has been extended to 90 minutes and will now begin at 6:30 p.m. across all markets (7 p.m. NT) on Sunday, April 26.
Previously announced as a one-hour broadcast, the event has become the largest single-show broadcast in Canadian history and will now air on an unprecedented 120 platforms. Broadcasters originally announced for the event include Bell Media, CBC/Radio-Canada, Corus Entertainment, Groupe V Média, and Rogers Sports and Media.
The 10 additional broadcasters announced Wednesday morning are ATN, APTN, Blue Ant Media, Wild Brain (Family), Hollywood Suite, NTV, OUTtv, Stingray, Super Channel and Unis TV. In addition, more than four dozen new radio stations have joined the broadcast, including Bell Media’s EZ Rock as well as participating stations from Arctic Radio, Blackburn, First Peoples Radio, Harvard, Pattison, Rawlco, Stingray and Vista radio networks (see below for the full list of participating broadcasters).
The broadcast event is being held in support of Food Banks Canada’s $150-million campaign to provide immediate support to food banks during the Covid-19 pandemic. Viewers who are able are invited to donate to Food Banks Canada in association with the broadcast to support local food banks across the country as they face the impact of Covid-19.
Conceived and produced in collaboration between Insight Productions, Bell Media Studios and CBC/Radio-Canada, the Stronger Together, Tous Ensemble 90-minute special is being presented in part through the support of Made|Nous, the consumer-focused campaign recognizing and celebrating creative Canadian talent.
With final participants to be announced tomorrow, the Canadian musicians, artists, activists, actors and athletes confirmed to make appearances and perform from their homes include Alessia Cara, Arkells, Barenaked Ladies, Bianca Andreescu, Bryan Adams, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Céline Dion, Chris Hadfield, Connor McDavid, David Suzuki, Eric McCormack, Hayley Wickenheiser, Howie Mandel, Jann Arden, Jason Priestley, Margaret Atwood, Marie-Mai, Michael Bublé, Penny Oleksiak, Rick Hansen, Rick Mercer, Russell Peters, Sarah McLachlan, Shania Twain, Sofia Reyes, Tessa Virtue, Will Arnett, William Prince, and more.
