SAN ANTONIO – So it was as crowded as it seemed after all.
Today, on the final day of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) Cable-Tec Expo 2005, the organizers said the convention attracted approximately 10,000 attendees, a difference of 2% from last year’s Expo attendance figure of 10,200 in Orlando, Florida, but a 10% increase from the last time Expo was in San Antonio in 2002.
The number of total exhibitors was up 5% over last year for a total of 394 exhibitors. This year’s SCTE Cable-Tec Expo also welcomed 69 first-time exhibitors and floor space was sold out.
“The enthusiasm this week was very high. The show floor was busy and energetic, and I spoke with many exhibitors who reported record traffic this year. All told, this was a great Expo,” said SCTE president and CEO John Clark.
With its promise of “all-engineering-all-the-time” and a hands-on, collaborative environment that helped participants explore this year’s theme, “Broadband Progress As Big As Texas.” This year’s show – held in San Antonio’s Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center – took place Tuesday, June 14 through Friday, June 17.
Next year’s Cable-Tec will be held Tuesday through Friday, June 20 to 23 in Denver, Colo. (which will be a delight for those of us who feel 97 degrees F in the shade is a little too warm, as it was during the week in Texas).
Chris Bowick of Cox Communications will serve as the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2006 Program Subcommittee chair.
