TORONTO – Canada’s TV best friend, CBC-TV talk show host George Stroumboulopoulos, is being wooed by CNN, as the U.S. network announced the Canadian TV personality will helm a new weekly interview show on CNN this summer.
The 10-episode, hour-long series, which will air Fridays in prime time, will be similar in format to CBC’s George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight, CNN reported on its website. It will be shot in Los Angeles in front of a live audience and produced by Sony Pictures Television’s Embassy Row.
According to CBC’s head of English services, Kirstine Stewart, Stroumboulopoulos is not leaving the public broadcaster for good. In a Twitter post earlier today, Stewart said, “Don't worry, Canada’s best BF not going too far for too long 🙂 congrats!”
Since 2005, Stroumboulopoulos has hosted a nightly interview show on CBC Television, initially called The Hour and now George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight. He previously hosted the short-lived talent show The One: Making A Music Star in the U.S. in 2006.
