MONTREAL — Through a partnership with U.S.-based environmental non-profit One Tree Planted, music service provider and broadcaster Stingray will help plant thousands of trees in the U.S. as part of One Tree Planted’s green initiative to plant a tree for every dollar donated.
With the support of some American distribution partners, Stingray has committed to planting one tree for every hour of Stingray Naturescape streamed on Earth Day 2020, which was April 22. As a result, 19,894 trees will be added to One Tree Planted’s reforestation efforts, which will directly impact community empowerment and local agroforestry projects, says the news release.
Stingray Naturescape (previously branded as Stingray Ambiance) features scenery from around the world, including majestic forests and woodlands.
“Filming for Stingray Naturescape has brought us to the four corners of the world where we have witnessed the tragic effects of deforestation on biodiversity and local communities,” said Eric Boyko, president, co-founder and CEO of Stingray, in the news release. “It is all of our responsibility to do our part to reduce the effects of climate change. I thank all Stingray Naturescape viewers for supporting our efforts by tuning in for at least one hour on April 22. Together we can make a difference and make our planet a greener place for all.”
