MONTREAL – Stingray will help The Voice hopefuls prepare for their moment in the spotlight after signing a five year global deal to develop, publish, and market the singing competitions’ new companion singing app.
Stingray said Monday that it was selected by The Voice creator Talpa Media based on its other successful karaoke services and interactive apps, which include Yokee – Sing Karaoke, Stingray Karaoke, and Kids Karaoke. Those apps have been downloaded over 100 million times by music fans and amateur singers worldwide, added the company.
The Voice singing app for mobile devices, scheduled to launch worldwide this December, will be developed by Stingray’s Yokee team and will be powered by the same technology used by the Yokee family of music apps. The app will be free to download from the Apple and Google Play app stores and will include some songs, but users will require a VIP in-app subscription to access the entire song catalog.
Key features of the app will include recording studio capabilities, offering fine control over vocal effects and the ability to re-record specific song segments to perfection; the ability to record video clips and duets with others who use the app; a recommendation engine for song selection; and a “social framework” that allows singers to create profiles, share their performances, follow other singers, and receive performance feedback from other community members.
“Entering into a high profile, long-term partnership with Talpa Media to develop and market an app based on one of the entertainment world’s most recognized properties is a coup for Stingray and confirms our reputation as a premier music app developer,” said Stingray’s president, co-founder, and CEO Eric Boyko, in the news release. “The expertise of the Yokee team in developing social music apps is without equal. We look forward to contributing to keeping The Voice fans around the world engaged, entertained, and connected to their favorite show.”
