MONTREAL – Stingray Digital Group said Tuesday that its free Stingray Music mobile app has reached 1 million downloads, doubling its user base in one year.

An ad-free companion service to the Stingray Music audio television channels, the app allows music lovers to listen to the same channel line-up they enjoy at home while on the go.  It also offers an additional 2,000 Vibes channels in some 100 genres with minimum of 150 tracks (up to 2,000) for an average of 10 to 12 hours of continuous music.

Stingray said that over half of downloads occurred following the launch of Vibes channels in July 2015, and that users spend an average of 5 hours listening to their favourite tracks and artists on the mobile app.

“The Stingray Music mobile app is quickly proving to be a must-have for listeners who want to access all the music they love and discover exciting, new musical horizons,” said Stingray’s marketing and communications SVP Mathieu Péloquin, in the news release.  “Our team has created a product that is like nothing else on the market. Only the Stingray Music mobile app offers a listening experience that has been curated by music experts for every moment, place, and mood. With new channels added every week, users have every reason to tune in often.”
