Stingray Classica launches worldwide on Libby app

MONTREAL — Music and media company Stingray Group Inc. announced today its streaming service Stingray Classica is now available on the Libby app, which is powered by Cleveland-based OverDrive’s worldwide digital reading platform for libraries and schools.

“Starting today, users of participating libraries around the globe can access content from the world’s premium classical music destination dedicated to classical music, opera, and ballet for free,” reads a Stingray press release.

The free Libby app is available in approximately 90% of public libraries in North America, as well as hundreds of college and university libraries, according to the release.

Users with a valid library card can now access Stingray Classica as one of the new Libby “Extras” services, the release says.

“Stingray Classica brings Libby users breathtaking excerpts of orchestral performances, operas, and ballets, including the grandest, most popular classical musical productions filmed from famed opera houses and theatres worldwide,” the release reads.

“Stingray is committed to delivering new entertainment platforms for music fans everywhere,” said Mathieu Péloquin, senior vice-president of marketing and communications at Stingray, in the release.

“We are thrilled to bring our expertly curated premium streaming service Stingray Classica to Libby users. We are always on the lookout for innovative partnerships to seamlessly bring our curated content to the greatest number of viewers while expanding our brand presence worldwide.”
