Still short of funding goal, PIAC issues another appeal

OTTAWA – Despite an urgent appeal for funding earlier this month, the Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC) is still far from reaching its goal.

The consumer advocacy group said this week that it has raised over $10,000, but needs to top $50,000 by the end of next month.

“To everyone who has given so generously – thank you. You are helping us continue to protect important public services and keep consumer advocacy alive across all of Canada”, PIAC said in an email.

“To those who have not yet visited our donation page, please consider making a one-time, tax-deductible donation online.”

PIAC is a national non-profit charitable organization founded in 1976, dedicated to providing legal and research resources to Canadians and Canadian organizations who could otherwise not have their interests represented. The group has long been an advocate on behalf of Canadian consumers – most notably battling Canadian cable, broadband and wireless companies over their business practices and rates, but it is also an advocate for consumers in other sectors, such as financial services and airlines.
