TORONTO – Matt Stein was appointed CEO of Distributel on March 31st, and the company's founder Mel Cohen will retain his role of chairman.
Stein (pictured) joins Distributel from Primus Telecommunications Group where he was chief technology officer, responsible for the engineering and operations of the company's services globally. He has also held senior positions CallNet Enterprises and ArQana Technologies, and is also a board member of the Canadian Network Operators Consortium (CNOC).
"During this time of transformation, there is no better person to lead Distributel than Matt Stein", said Cohen, in Tuesday’s announcement. “Matt is a proven leader with deep technical skills, business vision and the ability to bring people together. His vast experience and insight is exactly what Distributel needs as the company enters its next chapter of product innovation and growth".
"Distributel is an amazing place to be right now”, added Stein. “In addition to the broad range of telecommunications services we have become known for, we have new ventures in broadcasting distribution, IPTV, metropolitan fibre deployment, retail distribution, and our ThinkTel division's innovative Think365, which unleashes the full potential of Microsoft's Office 365 by enabling Microsoft Lync with Enterprise Voice."
Now operating as a national carrier with services in over 1000 cities, Distributel is an independent Internet service provider, offering cable and DSL Internet as well as home phone and long distance to consumers in Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia. Under the ThinkTel brand, Distributel also offers SIP based voice, video and data services in both retail and wholesale models to some of the country's largest organizations.
