Standard B.C. showing its heart again this year

KELOWNA B.C. – Standard Radio B.C. will again host its annual Have A Heart Radiothon beginning February 9.

From 6 a.m. Thursday February 9th through to 6 p.m. on Friday February 10th, Sun FM Kelowna will host one of the fundraisers, which will earn money to purchase much needed equipment for the city’s neo-natal and pediatric wards. One hundred percent of the money raised in each community, however, will stay there to help babies and kids.

Sarah Nelems, executive director of Kelowna General Hospital’s Foundation says, "We are delighted that Sun FM’s third annual "Have A Heart" Radiothon will raise vital funds for our new Neonatal ICU at Kelowna General Hospital. Sun FM is helping families right here in the Okanagan – and this new unit will ensure that families can stay close to home as their newest members get the very best care possible."

"We’re very proud to get involved. Last year the "Have a Heart" radiothon raised $200,000 in B.C. to help hospitals where we have stations. It’s a great grass-roots event that raises local dollars and benefits our local hospitals,” said Don Shafer, general manager of the BC Interior Stations for Standard Radio

Donations are already being accepted at Sun FM Stations in Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton.
