YELLOWKNIFE – SSi Micro has brought mobile voice and data services to Nunavut’s Clyde River and Chesterfield Inlet for the first time ever as it continues to expand its wireless service across the territory.
Following this launch, all of Nunavut’s 25 communities are on track to benefit from SSi Mobile’s latest generation 4G LTE and 2G GSM technologies by this summer. SSi Mobile offers the same service level and mobile voice and data pricing to all of Nunavut, meaning that all calls are treated as “local”, the company said.
SSi Mobile added that its prepaid service model, mobile wallet application and local agents in each Nunavut community allow residents to purchase what they need and can afford, all without a long term contract. Service plans begin at $25 per month (without data) and pay-as-you-go options are also available. Click here for more on SSi Mobile’s plans, devices, local sales and support.
“We are excited to bring affordable wireless services to all of Nunavut, making it easier for everyone to have a mobile phone,” said SSi founder and CEO Jeff Philipp, in the news release. “For example, all calls between Nunavut communities from an SSi Mobile phone will be local. That means no long-distance fees – a game changer for many families. There will also be unlimited texting to everywhere in Canada, and a range of plans and phones available for sale in all communities to fit every budget.”
