Sportsnet will ring you when trades happen

TORONTO – For those who just HAVE to know if the Oilers are going to trade for a backup goalie or not, no matter what meeting they’re in on Thursday, Rogers Sportsnet will be sending out NHL trade deadline wireless text message alerts throughout the day.

In addition to over eight hours of live coverage on TV this Thursday, the text message trade deadline alerts service went live on Monday, March 6 to provide bulletins all week long through to the trade deadline on the afternoon of March 9.

Fans who register will be the first to get breaking news direct from the Sportsnet newsroom to their cell phones.
"This is all about making Sportsnet as accessible as possible to as many fans as possible," said David Ballingall, vice-president marketing, Rogers Sportsnet. “We want to reach out to connect with sports fans regardless of where they are – on TV, print, online, and direct to their cell phone, with branded, proprietary content."

Fans can register by texting the word TRADE to 24680 or by visiting the hockey page of www.sportsnet.ca.

Viewers can also be a part of the show this Thursday. As with a number of its programs, Sportsnet will enable its text messaging chat ticker Thursday allowing viewers to provide their comments on the days’ activities via text messages sent from their cell phone.
