TORONTO – For baseball fans, it was a week late in coming, but on Friday, Rogers Sportsnet announced that Sunday Night Baseball will return to the sports channel this evening.
The season’s first Sunday Night Baseball game last week wasn’t on Sportsnet because the channel and Major League Baseball had yet to arrive at a deal. The two signed a two-year agreement this week.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Sportsnet and Sportsnet HD will broadcast the Chicago Cubs against the St. Louis Cardinals at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Sunday, April 9th at 8 p.m. ET.
The new deal gives Rogers Sportsnet a MLB package that features: the World Series, League Championships, Division Series, All-Star Game at Pittsburgh, the Home Run Derby, and regular-season games.
Sportsnet and Sportsnet HD will broadcast 25 Sunday Night Baseball games. Sportsnet will feature the Boston Red Sox 30 times, New York Yankees on 27 occasions and the Los Angeles Angels and San Francisco Giants 35 times each.
Not to mention over 130 Toronto Blue Jays games, as Rogers owns both the channel and the team.
