Sportsnet rolls out live Maple Leafs games app

TORONTO – Sportsnet is offering Toronto Maple Leaf fans another way to keep up with the team with the debut of a new app known as the ‘Sportsnet – Live Maple Leafs Games’ app.

Starting March 11, the app will allow Rogers customers to catch live streamed Sportsnet and Leafs TV coverage of nine regular-season Leafs games this year on their iPhone, iPad and Android smartphones.

To watch all live nine games on their mobile device, Rogers television customers must subscribe to Sportsnet and/or Leafs TV and be registered with Rogers Anyplace TV.  The app is available to Rogers wireless and Fido subscribers as well as other wireless carriers, though the games are only available only to Ontario residents in the designated Toronto Maple Leafs area due to NHL regional restrictions.

“Toronto is a hockey-hungry market and we are thrilled to fuel the appetite of Leafs fans with more expansive access to games,” said Marc Dinsdale, Sportsnet’s director and GM of Rogers Digital Media, in the announcement.  “This app represents the perfect vehicle for Maple Leafs fans on the go to watch their favourite team play, and is a great way for Sportsnet to continue providing premium content and value to our subscribers."

Apple iPhone, iPad and Android smartphone users can visit the iTunes App Store and Android Market to download the app for free.  It launches Sunday when the Toronto Maple Leafs take on the Washington Capitals at 5 pm ET.
