TORONTO – Controversial radio host Dean Blundell is returning to Toronto airwaves this spring as co-host of a new morning show on Rogers' sports radio station Sportsnet 590 The FAN.
Sportsnet said Tuesday that the new show, Dean Blundell & Co., will debut on March 2 and air weekdays from 5:30 AM to 9:00 AM ET. Blundell, who had his namesake radio show on Corus’ CFNY's 102.1 the Edge cancelled last January, will co-host the new show alongside Andrew Walker. Greg Brady, co-host of the current morning show Brady & Walker, will take over the 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM slot beginning March 30.
The changes are a result of Tim Micallef and Sid Seixeiro (pictured), co-hosts of sports-talk radio show Tim & Sid, move to television to headline a new show that will air weekdays from 5:00 PM to 7:00PM ET on Sportsnet starting July 1. Details of the new show will be announced in the coming months, and the duo, whose last radio show will air March 27, will make special appearances on Sportsnet programming throughout the spring.
“Tim & Sid are tremendous stars – they’ve revolutionized sports talk radio with their innovative format and infectious personalities,” said Scott Moore, president, Sportsnet & NHL Properties for Rogers, in the news release. “This is the natural next step for them, and it increases our television offering by creating a new type of late afternoon sports program. I can’t wait to see what they do.”
