TORONTO – Speakers for the 8th annual Digital Media at the Crossroads (DM@X) conference, including those from BCE, Quebecor, Corus, CBC and Rogers, were finalized earlier this month, according to the conference steering committee.
DM@X, which will be held virtually this year from Jan. 21-22, will cover several topics, many of which are particularly timely given the priorities indicated in the federal government’s minister mandate letters released last month.
Topics include the regulation of streaming services and the role of the CRTC, the options for addressing online harm and fake news, new developments in support for Canadian news from digital platforms, Canadian content and the challenge for diversity, equity and inclusion, and revenue projections for digital media.
The conference will have 12 sessions featuring those working in the industry, academics, journalists, lawyers, analysts and more.
Speakers include:
- Rob Malcolmson, EVP, chief legal and regulatory officer at BCE Inc.
- Jonathan Lee Hickey, vice-president of legal affairs and corporate secretary at Quebecor
- Kristina Milbourn, chair of Rogers’ Copyright and Piracy practice group and the founder of the Rogers’ Piracy Lab
- Nick Davis, the executive director of equity and inclusion at CBC
- Lenore MacAdam, the head of diversity, equity and inclusion at Corus Entertainment
- Monique Simard a member of the Broadcasting and Telecommunications Legislative Review Panel
