Space rebrands with new down-to-Earth logo

TORONTO – With the tagline, “It’s all around you,” Bell Media-owned specialty channel Space unveiled its new logo today both on-air and online at its new website, Space.ca.

The channel’s rebranding is intended to reflect Bell Media’s programming strategy of bringing Space “back to earth.” The new look will be featured in a marketing campaign promoting Space’s most popular programs, including a new season of its Doctor Who series, which begins March 30. Space is also adding new programs and is launching a new original series called Orphan Black.

The extensive campaign surrounding the rebrand will include promotional support across all of Bell Media’s television networks, both on-air and online, and radio spots on Bell Media Radio stations. Additionally, the campaign will receive support through ads on YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook, as well as bus ads in Toronto and Vancouver, and movie pre-roll support at Cineplex theatres in Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver.

The channel’s website has also been revamped, as the URL transitions from its previous home at Spacecast.com.

The logo, created by Bell Media Agency, features the white Space logo inside a bright blue circle. Bell Media hopes the new look will help move the channel “out of outer space and bring it into the world here on Earth,” said Justin Stockman, Executive Director of Marketing, Specialty Channels, Bell Media. “We wanted to separate it from the old notions of niche sci-fi, and instead celebrate and embrace the mainstream appeal of genre programming.”
