Source bringing fibre to the home

HAMILTON – Fibre optic cable will be installed right to each house in a new 78-home housing project in Canada’s Steel City thanks to local cable company Source Cable, manufacturer Commscope – supplied through TVC Canada – and builder Dicenzo Construction.

“We are extremely happy to announce the launch of our first fibre-to-the-home project,” said Source Cable president Dan Campbell. “Fibre-to-the-home is a leading edge technology and we believe that we are the first cable company in Canada to make fibre-to-the-home a reality. Fibre optic technology is more reliable and superior to copper lines and residential satellite signals. We’re offering tomorrow’s technology today and our customers will reap the benefits in their digital homes as this new technology continues to evolve.”

Campbell pointed out that fibre-to-the-home will enable the company which serves close to 20,000 basic cable customers in southwest Hamilton to bring higher-quality digital cable and high definition Television, much faster Internet speeds and a more reliable telephone service.

“Fibre optic technology offers a virtually error-free transmission from head-end to home,” said Darryl Chandler, operations manager at Source. “Technical reliability and 24/7 customer support are the key priorities for our residential and business customers.
