Sony takes pre-orders for 3D TVs; will ship in June

TORONTO – For those wishing to be one of the first to have a 3D TV in their home, Sony is accepting orders for its 3D-capable LCD HDTVs.

After offering demos of the technology to customers across the country earlier this year, the consumer electronics retailer is accepting pre-orders in Sony Style and Future Shop stores, on-line or by phone for select models of its Bravia LX900 and HX800 series. The televisions will ship in June.

Sony’s 3D-capable LCD HDTVs use active shutter glasses and high frame rate technology to reproduce full HD 3D images.

With a built-in 3D transmitter and two pairs of Sony’s 3D active shutter glasses included, the LX900 series will be available in screen sizes of 40-inch, 46-inch, 52-inch and 60-inch and sell for $2,999.99, $3,499.99, $4,499.99, and $5,499.99 respectively.

Also 3D ready (with the addition of Sony active shutter glasses and transmitter, sold separately), the HX800 series is available in screen sizes of 40-inch, 46-inch, and 55-inch and are priced at $2,599.99, $2,999.99, and $3,799.99 respectively.
